Hypatia was indeed an intelligent woman with a compassionate heart. She gave so much to the society. But her death seems so cruel, brutal and unjustifying. Its an extremely painful facet of an evil society that doesn’t value goodness and people who are the torch-bearer of goodness.
Also, there is much debate centering around the Alexandria library and many conspiracy theories behind its destruction. Both Hypatia’s murder and burning of library is a barbarous and merciless act. For someone like me born in this century, the impact of the past cruelities laid in Alexandria had a melancholic impact on me.
Appreciate You, Inge knudsen for giving a moment to read Hypatia’s story and leave your insight-filled response. Also, your recommended movie “Agora" is on my watching-list.
Once again, thanks for sharing your knowledgeable insights.
